# Add a metadata field

To add a metadata field to a project, complete the following procedure.

1. In the **Project space** menu, select **Settings**.
2. Select **Metadata Fields**.
3. Select **Add field**.
4. In the **New field** box, do the following:
   1. Type a name.
   2. Select the value type.
   3. Type a description.
   4. Click **Create**.
