# Create a dataset from a document list

You can create a dataset from a document list that you create as a CSV, XLS, or XLSX file. The document list file must have a document ID header column.

To create a dataset from a document list, complete the following procedure.

1. In the **Project space** menu, select **Collections**.
2. Select a collection.
3. Select **Datasets**.
4. Select **Create new dataset** > **From document list**.
5. Configure the dataset using the following fields:
   1. Enter a **Dataset Name**.
   2. Type a **Description**.
   3. Choose whether to include family members.
   4. Click to upload your document list file (CSV, XLS, or XLSX with a document ID header column).
6. Click **Create**.
