# Epiq AI: V1 to V2 Transition Training Guide

### Overview

Epiq AI v2 represents a significant redesign of the platform. The core functionality you know — data uploads, protocols, review, search, models, exports — remains intact, but the **navigational structure has been completely reorganized** and **several powerful new features have been added**. The biggest shift is the move from a **collection-centric** model to a **project-centric** model with AI at the center.

### 1. The Home Dashboard

**V1:** The Home screen shows "Recent Projects" and "Recent Collections" as **cards** — each project card displays the creator, number of sources, and number of users. Collections show type, project, file count, and storage size.

**V2:** The Home screen shows the same information but displays it as a **structured table** with explicit column headers (Project Name, Status, Created By, Sources, Users, Created). The Collections table also shows "Type", "Project", "Documents", and "Created By" as named columns — making it easier to scan and sort.

**What to do:** The same data is present; just expect a cleaner tabular layout instead of card summaries.

### 2. Projects List Page

**V1:** The Projects list shows projects as **individual cards** with a "Type" filter dropdown and a Sort control. Each card displays key metadata visually.

**V2:** The Projects list uses a **flat table view** with sortable columns: Project Name, Status, Created By, Sources, Users, Created. The "Type" filter dropdown is gone. Navigation is simpler and more information-dense.

### 3. Entering a Project — The New Project Space (Major Change)

**V1:** Clicking a project takes you **directly into that project's Collections list** — you land on a page showing all collections within the project.

**V2:** Clicking a project now takes you to a **Project Space landing page** — a dedicated project hub with a prominent **AI chat interface** ("Ask anything…") and quick-access buttons to Collections, Knowledge, Libraries, and Workflows. This is the new entry point for every project.

**What to do:** From any project, use the "Project Space" page to navigate to your desired section. The left sidebar now shows project-level sections: Project space, Collections, Knowledge, Libraries, Workflows, Settings.

### 4. Left Sidebar Navigation — Two-Level Structure

**V1:** The sidebar has a **single level** when inside a collection. Navigation shows: Dashboard, Data uploads, Protocols (expandable), Review (expandable), Search (expandable), Datasets, Models, Exports, Settings. There is also a prominent **"AI Chat"** button at the top.

**V2:** The sidebar has **two distinct levels**:

* **Project level** (when in the project space): Project space, Collections, Knowledge, Libraries, Workflows, Settings
* **Collection level** (when inside a collection): Project space (back link), Dashboard, Data uploads, Protocols, Review, Search, Datasets, Models, Workflows, Exports, Settings

**What to do:** Always check which level of the sidebar you're at. If you want to access Knowledge or Libraries, navigate back to the Project level sidebar. If you want collection-specific work (review, models, exports), go into a collection first.

### 5. AI Chat → Ask AI (Renamed & Repositioned)

**V1:** AI Chat is a **prominent button in the top-left** of every screen. Clicking it opens a full chat panel with a sidebar showing the conversation history organized by month, a "Add new chat +" button, and a "Clear Conversations" function. The chat is scoped to a project/collection.

**V2:** The AI chat feature is now called **"Ask AI"** and is surfaced in two places:

* A persistent **"Ask AI" button** in the left sidebar (blue button at the top)
* Directly on the **Project Space landing page** as the main "Ask anything…" input with a context selector ("Choose a project to get started")

The v2 "Ask AI" chat (at `/aida-chats`) similarly shows "Home" and "Chats" in the sidebar and prompts you to select a project before asking.

**What to do:** Replace your muscle memory of clicking "AI Chat" in the top-left with "Ask AI" in the sidebar or from the Project Space homepage.

### 6. 🆕 New Feature: Knowledge (Project Level)

**V1:** No equivalent.

**V2:** A brand new **Knowledge** section is available at the project level (sidebar: Knowledge). It contains structured entity information:

* **Persons tab** — lists people associated with the project (name, aliases, first/last name, email)
* **Organizations tab** — lists organizations
* A "New Person" button to add entities

This replaces or supplements what used to be done through search entity lookups, giving you a dedicated place to manage key people and organizations in your case.

**What to do:** Use the Knowledge section to build and maintain a roster of key persons and organizations relevant to your project. This is entirely new — explore it as a structured entity management tool.

### 7. 🆕 New Feature: Libraries (Project Level)

**V1:** No equivalent.

**V2:** A new **Libraries** section is available at the project level. It stores curated reference lists organized into tabs:

* **All** — all libraries
* **Person** — libraries focused on people
* **Organization** — libraries focused on organizations
* **Prompt** — saved prompt libraries

Libraries appear as cards (e.g., "Known Attorneys") and can be created with the "+ Create a library" button.

**What to do:** Use Libraries to maintain reusable reference lists — for example, a library of known attorneys, custodians, or organizations — that can be referenced across your review and AI workflows.

### 8. Workflows — Now at Project Level

**V1:** Workflows existed within a **collection's sidebar** (collection level only).

**V2:** Workflows now appear at **both the project level** (via the project sidebar) and at the collection level sidebar. The project-level Workflows page has a search bar, a **Templates** button, and a **"+ Create new"** button — making it easier to build and reuse workflow templates across collections.

**What to do:** For creating new or template-based workflows, go to the project-level Workflows section. For collection-specific workflow execution, use the collection sidebar's Workflows section.

### 9. Collections List & Collections Navigation

**V1:** When inside a project, the Collections list shows cards (Collection Name, Type, Documents count, Data Volume, Date Created) with a Sort option.

**V2:** The Collections list is now a **table** with columns: ID, Collection Name, Type, Documents, Created By, Date Created, Actions (three-dot menu). The breadcrumb now reads "Home > \[Project Name] > Collections". A "Created By" column has been added.

**What to do:** Your collections are in the same place — just expect the table layout with the added "Created By" and "Actions" columns.

### 10. Inside a Collection — Dashboard

**V1 & V2:** Both versions share the same **Collection Dashboard** with "My Documents" (total/reviewed donut chart), "My Tasks", and "My Annotations" sections. This screen is largely unchanged.

### 11. Review Section — Enhanced Structure

**V1:** Review is an expandable section in the collection sidebar with sub-items.

**V2:** The Review section is now organized with four dedicated **tabs** at the top of the page:

* **Review Batches** — create and manage batches ("Create Review Batch" button, columns: ID, Name, Date Created, Completed Tasks, Created By, Actions)
* **Assignments** — manage reviewer assignments
* **Review Analytics** — analytics and performance metrics
* **Review Runs** — track individual review run history

**What to do:** All your existing review functionality is still there — it's now spread across clearly labeled tabs. Look for Review Batches first if you're starting a new review.

### 12. Models — New Tabs Added

**V1:** The Models page is a simple grid/list with a "Create Model" button and a filter for "All Model Types".

**V2:** The Models page now has **three tabs**:

* **Models** — the existing model list (with "Model Type" dropdown and "Create Model" button)
* **Metrics** — new tab for reviewing model performance metrics
* **Reports** — new tab for model reports

**What to do:** Your existing models are on the Models tab. Explore Metrics and Reports for new insight into model quality.

### 13. Settings — Minor Rename

**V1:** Settings tabs: Tags, **Fields**, Highlights, Integrations.

**V2:** Settings tabs: Tags, **Annotation Fields**, Highlights, Integrations.

**What to do:** "Fields" has been renamed to "Annotation Fields" — same functionality, just a clearer label.

### 14. Breadcrumb Navigation

**V1:** Breadcrumb shows: `Workflow Project / Collections / Collection 1 / [Section]` — uses slash separators, plain text.

**V2:** Breadcrumb shows: `Home > [Project Name with icon] > [Section]` — uses arrow separators, project names have color icons, and the Home link is always present for global context.

### 15. Home Page Collections Display

**V1:** Home page shows collections with **file storage size** (e.g., "360.0 KB") and project name in a card.

**V2:** Home page shows collections with **"Created By"** column instead of storage size, and displays the project name as a linked column.

### Summary: What's New in V2

**Structural changes:** A new Project Space landing page serves as the project hub. Navigation is now two-tiered (project level vs. collection level). Everything is displayed in cleaner tabular layouts.

**AI integration:** "Ask AI" is more prominent — accessible from the Project Space homepage as the primary action, not just a sidebar button.

**New features:** Knowledge (entity management for persons and organizations) and Libraries (curated reference lists with Person, Organization, and Prompt categories) are entirely new additions.

**Enhanced sections:** Review has a richer tab structure (Batches, Assignments, Analytics, Runs). Models now includes Metrics and Reports tabs. Workflows are now accessible at the project level with template support.

**Minor renames:** "AI Chat" → "Ask AI", "Fields" → "Annotation Fields", "Epiq.Aida" → "epiq.aida" (user display).
